Juan Figueroa is a candidate for Ulster County Sheriff. A US Marine Veteran of Foreign War and retired New York State Trooper/Investigator, his candidacy for Ulster County Sheriff is the next step in a long career of public service.
Juan served twenty-two years in the United States Marine Corps, retiring as a Chief Warrant Officer and twenty-five years in the New York State Police. He patrolled the roads of Ulster County and worked in the Bureau of Criminal Investigations. He has successfully taken down drug cartels, worked to stop corruption, and fought to keep Americans safe abroad.
Juan believes that law enforcement and the community need to work as a team. We need a proactive approach to fix the problems we face in Ulster County, especially issues like the heroin/opioid epidemic. He is committed to working with the medical field and the families that need and seek help. We can not just arrest our way out of this problem.
Juan will never use an official position to push partisan views. He is committed to serving every member of our community regardless of who they are or where they are from. When a county department is using your taxpayer dollars to cover the cost of discrimination lawsuits, that comes from a failure of leadership. Juan will bring leadership to the Sheriff’s department that is transparent and accountable to the community it serves.
Juan has been a resident of the Town of Plattekill for nearly forty years. He is a registered Democrat and will seek the Democratic nomination for the office of Ulster County Sheriff. He is proud to already have the support of a number of local elected officials and political leaders.
